What you need to know before undergoing a LASIK surgery

LASIK or laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis is a vision correction surgery for myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism via laser help. It requires an ophthalmologist to use an instrument called microkeratome for rectifying and reshaping the cornea, thus improving the visual acuity.

While most people opt for it as a long lasting solution to spectacles or contact lenses, some tend to also be sceptical about undergoing this surgery and relate it with innumerable myths. We spoke to Dr. Yogesh Khandvi, an ophthalmologist, based in Rajkot, Gujarat to answer some of the widely asked questions regarding this eye surgery.
