Special Expertise: Ophthalmology
Delray Eye Associates’ team of fellowship-trained and board-certified ophthalmologists have been caring for patients since 1978. They combine cutting-edge technology and procedures with old-fashioned personalized care.
The group offers a one-stop shop for patients with eye conditions including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, facial aging and farsightedness, among others.
“Whatever problem a patient comes in with we have a specialty trained ophthalmologist who can deal with their issues,” says Steven Rosenfeld, M.D., who specializes in laser refractive cataract surgery, medical and surgical treatment of corneal diseases, complications of cataract surgery and laser vision correction.
Other board-certified and specialty trained physicians include:
• Daniel Jewelewicz, M.D., who specializes in the medical, laser and surgical treatment of glaucoma, as well as anterior segment surgery and cataract surgery.
• Michael Schaffer, M.D., who specializes in problems related to the optic nerve, neurologic diseases, double vision, strabismus and eye disease in children.
• Jan Kronish, M.D., a facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon who specializes in eyelid disorders and tumors, cosmetic eyelid and facial rejuvenation surgery, as well as medical and surgical treatments for tearing disorders and diseases of the orbit.
The doctors’ experience and training at some of the top schools in the country has led to national recognition. “We receive referrals from ophthalmologists and academic institutions from all over the country,” says Rosenfeld.
The group’s surgeons were among the first in the country to insert premium lens implants, which reduce or eliminate the need for glasses after cataract surgery and the new innovative refractive lens exchange.
Dr. Kronish is past president of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. The doctors participate in clinical trials and are clinical faculty members at both the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and Florida Atlantic University’s Schmidt College of Medicine.
Dr. Rosenfeld is one of just a handful of corneal specialists in the state to perform corneal cross-linking to treat keratoconus, a disease that causes the cornea to bulge and distort vision.
Unlike many practices, the doctors are available 24/7 so there is always someone on-call to see patients when an emergency arises.
